A story is a good
place to begin.
Magna Logos is an independent journal about the ideas we inherit and the stories we keep telling. Horror, mystery and true crime take us into the unknown. Mythology, philosophy, history and literature offer other ways to ask a good question.
Some stories become essays. Others become short illustrated films. Both leave room for the reader to wonder.
How we tell a story
Essays link to the texts, archives and institutions behind their subject. Interpretation is identified as interpretation. A short introduction cannot replace a whole book, and a mystery is not proof of a supernatural explanation.
Our films use illustration, animation and narration to explore these subjects. Descriptions and publication dates on film pages come from the public channel catalog.
Some website covers are AI-generated cinematic reconstructions. They illustrate a subject and are not archival photographs or evidence of the events described.
